Records Gathering

In order to help find information about a person, one of the best things you can do is to order records. Every investigative agency should have its own inner office release form, along with the proper release forms for any school, hospital, job, etc. The investigator should also be prepared to type up a professional request letter, on office letterhead, stating who they are, who it is in reference to, the purpose of the letter, and request that if recs are not available for whatever reason that they state that and why for the investigator file. There should be an attempt to gather all records, even if they no longer exist, to show that the effort was there (CYA). Organization is imperative, along with communication between the provider, the investigator, and the attorney. Record gathering is often times the start, as it is what experts might need to examine, interpret, and base a defense a case on.
